Crafted with Purpose

1333 14th St NW was an infamous run down brake shop renovated by its current owners Bill Fischer and Drew Mitchell. They brightened the space with skylights and glass windows and created a community hotspot with their gallery, all while maintaining the integrity of the building.

Slipstream is excited to become a significant part of the building and we look to enhance and compliment the current space as we progress with our build out. Because it is a commercial space, we originally believed our only options were the standard commercial restaurant furnishings from large manufacturers. However, we were much more excited by the quality and care that went into more unique, hand-made products.

A lot of thought has gone into the look and feel of our space with the intention of making it a comfortable and sophisticated environment. We are excited about the quality of food and beverage products that we will offer and want the space that they are consumed in, to be of the same caliber.

For that reason, we have sought out furnishings created by people who pay careful attention to quality and craftsmanship. By interacting and working directly with the artists and crafters we were not only able to get quality products that perfectly fit our vision of the space, but we were able to meet amazing people and support the local ecosystem.

We are excited to share the story of these furnishings / products and the people behind them in the coming blog posts. Stay tuned!
